The Practice handles many types of banking and finance issues including secured and unsecured lending and a wide range of corporate transactions from company secretarial services to drafting and advising on share and asset sale agreements and joint venture agreements. The Practice provides a full service to clients from the conception of a business through its growth to maturity. The Practice advises on many different types of commercial transactions and all aspects of employment law, including industrial relations with trade unions and immigration matters for both Singaporean and foreign employers and employees.

The Practice also advises individual clients on estate and trust matters and has advised charitable institutions in securing Institution of Public Character (IPC) status.

The Practice's clients include major local and foreign banks, finance companies, securities firms, commercial property owners, internet and information technology companies, insurance and investment companies and statutory boards.

The Practice also serves as legal adviser to The Association of Banks in Singapore and the Finance Houses Association of Singapore.

Transactions handled by the Practice include the establishment and statutory recognition of Singapore's 1st consumer credit bureau, advising the Singapore Clearing House Association, the Association of Banks in Singapore and individual banks on the Electronic Truncation System for cheque clearing and the acquisition and disposal of loan portfolios for various financial institutions. The Practice also advised a foreign law firm on the acquisition of the Singapore offshore practice of another foreign firm. The Practice has also advised on employment matters in respect of both unionized and non-unionized employees and issues relating to retrenchment, non-competition obligations and on the legal implications arising from the transfer of a business from one entity to another.


The Practice's range of services includes representation of insurance companies, statutory boards, public listed companies, private companies, commercial parties and individuals.

The services offered by the Practice cover many types of civil and commercial claim including debt recovery, general commercial litigation, advising on insurance matters, employment issues, family and domestic disputes, property transaction disputes, regulatory proceedings, personal and corporate insolvency and alternative dispute resolution.

The Practice is often engaged to conduct trials on disputes involving complex legal issues in the courts from the Subordinate Courts to the Singapore High Court and the Court of Appeal. The Practice has also been engaged to conduct arbitration proceedings and mediation on behalf of clients.

The Practice has acted for the Board of Governors of a school in an enquiry into the conduct of a senior member of staff.


The Practice engages in a wide range of criminal advocacy work, from defence work involving statutory and regulatory offences to the more serious non-violent crimes.

The Practice, headed by a former Registrar of the Subordinate Courts and District Judge, also makes representations to the Attorney-General's Chambers for the withdrawal or reduction of charges.

Besides conducting criminal trials in the High Court and Subordinate Courts, the Practice is also engaged in trials at the Military Court Martial.


The Practice has considerable experience and skill in advising on and negotiating complex real estate transactions. The Practice's clients include local businesses, financial institutions, government linked companies and multi-national corporations.

The Practice has advised on the purchase, planning and development, construction, financing (including restructuring arrangements and club-financing of URA tender projects) and sales and leases of commercial, industrial and residential property. The Practice is also highly experienced in all aspects of landlord and tenant work, contentious and non-contentious. The Practice has been involved in structuring the acquisition and disposal of residential and commercial property loan portfolios for financial institutions, and in en-bloc transactions. The Practice also advises on finance leases, factoring and other aspects of receivables financing.
